We all need support.
Once you understand how to work with your emotions, you’ll actually begin to see them as an always-present source of support and wisdom already inside of you.
But now and again you might need guidance in figuring out exactly what messages your emotions have for you. Sometimes it’s hard to see the bigger picture when you’re down on the ground, knee-deep in your struggle.
That’s when a DEI consultation can help.
How does it work?
- Before your first session, I will send you a link to an online questionnaire to fill out. This helps me get a snapshot of where you are right now with your emotions and which ones are working best for you.
- After you fill out the questionnaire, we will schedule a time to meet via Zoom (a video meeting platform) for your private and confidential session.
- The sessions are normally one hour and are completely personalized to you and your emotions. In this time, I will help you discover where your current emotional strengths are, which emotions need attention, and how they are all actually working together to serve you in the best way possible. Perhaps most importantly, I will work with you to unravel the hidden wisdom your emotions have for you. These messages are often lost in outdated patterns, beliefs, or behaviors but there is a way for you to reconnect with them and in turn, reconnect with your whole and authentic self.
- After the session I will send you a write-up of notes highlighting our discussion and suggested practices that may help you further deepen your understanding and connection to your emotions’ gifts.
- We may decide to schedule a follow up session immediately or wait and check in after a time. Everyone’s process is different and we trust that your emotions will guide us in the right direction.
Do I need to know about DEI?
In order to get the most out of a consultation, it is best if you have a working knowledge of The Language of Emotions. Perhaps you’ve taken a class, read one of the books, or watched Karla McLaren’s collection of YouTube videos. This allows us to be on the same page and understand each other when we’re talking about your emotions.
If you haven’t done any of that and the DEI approach to emotions is entirely new to you, but you like the idea of one-to-one consultations, I can still help you! For this, it is best to plan for a few meetings which will be personalized for you. These sessions are structured to both teach you about the emotions and also apply the concepts to whichever situation you are seeking help with.
*If you’re uncertain which of these options is best for you, let’s chat. Send me a note and we’ll figure it out together.*
Is DEI like therapy or life coaching?
The consultations in DEI are non-clinical in their approach. There is no diagnosis and in some situations I might need to refer you out to a professional counselor or therapist. If you are currently in therapy, a DEI consultation may be an effective and complementary support.
DEI is not life coaching because ultimately, the consultation defers to the wisdom of your very own emotions. There are never assumptions about what will work for you. I am not going to give you a map to achieve your goals. Instead, I will help you discover the dynamic guides within you that go beyond the limits of any map.
